Thoroughly enjoyed meeting with Moriah Conley, reigning Cumberland Ag Expo Queen, today! She`s in her junior year of high school and is active in the Cumberland County 4-H Horse and Pony Club. She stays busy volunteering, doing barn chores, trail riding her horse, skiing, and working for a local fruit farmer. She`s hardworking, impressive and represents our area and agriculture very well!
This morning, PA Treasurer Stacy Garrity met with members of both the #PAHouse and #PASenate to discuss the good work her office is doing on behalf of the people of Pennsylvania. What an honor it was to officially dedicate the Sgt Patrick Hawkins Memorial Bridge today in North Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, PA. The bridge, located on Spring Road, spans the Conodoguinet and stands as a visual reminder of Patrick`s life, heroism, and sacrifice.
Patrick was truly exceptional. He was brave, faithful, committed, strong, smart, and selfless, according to all who knew him. A member of the elite 75th Ranger Regiment, he embodied the Ranger Creed. Rangers lead the way!
The packed house today at North Middleton Fire Company was a testament to his enduring legacy. It was heartwarming to see the community come out and show such tremendous support of the Hawkins family and touching to hear LTC Roy Hawkins describe how the community has sustained them and provided encouragement through the years.
Thanks to all who made today`s ceremony possible: The Hawkins Family, the North Middleton Fire Company, the Keystone State Challenge Academy, the Carlisle Area School District High School Chamber Singers, Chaplain Hudson of the U.S. Army War College Memorial Chapel, PA State Rep. Barb Gleim, and the North Middleton Twp. Supervisors.
Had a great time stocking pheasants with the Pennsylvania Game Commission today, at State Game Land 230 in North Middleton Twp. The agency anticipates releasing between 215,000 and 220,000 pheasants statewide in preparation for youth season (Oct. 11-18), the general season (Oct. 25-Nov. 28), and the late season (Dec. 15-24 and Dec. 26-Feb. 28).
Today, I had the pleasure of hosting future leaders from across the 34th senatorial district at the Capitol, for an immersive experience, learning about and participating in the legislative process.
High students from across Cumberland, Northern Dauphin, and Perry counties were selected by their schools to be ‘Senators for a Day.’ They participated in mock legislative sessions, served on one of five committees to discuss bills, take positions, and draft legislation for the full Senate to consider. Later, they met in full session to debate and vote on legislation drafted by the committees.
I heard a lot of thoughtful discussions, great perspectives and effective negotiations throughout the day. I hope everyone enjoyed the experience!
Glad to take part in a number of events this month aimed at increasing breast cancer awareness and promoting education to increase early detection. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. But early detection can save lives. This month, please take time to learn your personal risk factors – including age, genetics and lifestyle. As an America250PA Commissioner, I`m excited to be part of the Liberty Tree Project. It`s part of a multi-year celebration of our nation`s 250th Anniversary. A Liberty Tree will be planted in each of the Commonwealth`s 67 counties. Recently, we celebrated the planting and dedication of a Liberty Tree in Cumberland County, PA, at Hampden Township Veterans Park.
Historically, Liberty Trees were gathering places for the Sons of Liberty throughout all 13 colonies. From their meetings and discussions, the seeds of the American Revolution were planted.

Today, the Senate voted to designate the Seargent Patrick C. Hawkins Memorial Bridge in North Middleton Township. While on his 4th deployment, Sgt Hawkins was killed in action moving to aid a wounded fellow Ranger. Eternally grateful for his heroism and sacrifice. #neverforgotten 🇺🇸
Glad to join friends and colleagues from both the House and Senate this morning to prepare for one of my favorite events, the Capitol All-Stars Softball Game!
The game is non-partisan, bi-cameral and all proceeds go to Feeding Pennsylvania and Hunger-Free Pennsylvania! Since 2013, we`ve been able to fund meals for more than a million Pennsylvanians.
This morning, team rosters were determined for #teamyouse and #teamyinz through our traditional "bat grab" process. As Team Youse co-captain, along with Speaker Rep. Joanna McClinton, I`m pleased to report that we won the bat grab, just as we`ve won the last two All-Star Games!
I`m excited about our team--which includes PA State Rep. Sheryl Delozier and PA State Rep. Torren Ecker--and playing for a good cause. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year!
The game is scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025, 5:30 pm at FNB Field on City Island. Learn more and get tickets: https://www.capitolallstars.com/
Keeping our kids safe is of paramount importance. I was glad to join Attorney General Dave Sunday, #Safe2Say Program administrators, and Carlisle Area School District representatives to highlight the importance and effectiveness of the Safe2Say program.
Carlisle has embraced Safe2Say training and was applauded for their commitment to keeping our kids and our communities safe. Students who have had the courage to engage and law enforcement partners were also commended by the Attorney General.
It’s important to note that the program serves every corner of the commonwealth and is available 24/7, 365 days a year to receive confidential tips via the Safe2Say app, text, or 1.844.SAF2SAY.
Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming middle and high school @udasdtrojans archery teams back to the #PASenate floor to close out a season full of incredible accomplishments, including state championship titles and an incredible showing at nationals in Louisville, Kentucky.
Congratulations, archers, on your hard work, personal bests and perseverance! Congratulations also to the coaches for their time and dedication to program and student archers. I am honored to represent such and impressive and dedicated group.
Thanks to Congressman GT Glenn Thompson for coming to Harrisburg to discuss issues facing Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry, as well as the importance of the industry. lt is critical that all levels of government work together for the good of the Commonwealth!
