I had the pleasure of hosting future leaders from across the 34th district at the Capitol this week, for an immersive experience, learning about and participating in the legislative process.

High school students from across Cumberland, Northern Dauphin, and Perry counties were selected by their schools to be ‘Senators for a Day.’ They participated in mock legislative sessions, served on committees to discuss bills, take positions, and draft legislation for the full Senate to consider. Later, they met in full session to debate and vote on legislation drafted by the committees.

Thanks to ALL of the participating schools for sending such outstanding students! I heard a lot of thoughtful discussions, great perspectives and effective negotiations throughout the day. I hope everyone enjoyed the experience. ...

I had the pleasure of hosting Cumberland County`s own @ms_wheelchair_america Jamie Clendening and her family at the #PACapitol today. I was incredibly proud to share her many accomplishments with my Senate colleagues and explain the impact she`s making across the commonwealth and beyond.

After being crowned Ms. Wheelchair Pennsylvania, Jamie earned the national title based on her advocacy, leadership and achievements. In her new role, she serves as a national spokeswoman and is focused on improving healthcare access.

Jamie is nothing short of an inspiration. She`s always working to educate the public and empower those with disabilities. She`s a regional champion advocate and peer mentor for the Christopher & Dana @reevefoundation and founded "I Can and I Wheel," an online resource and support community.

Honored to be with the dedicated members of @vigilant_hose_co tonight. Thanks to EVERY volunteer and those who support the company. It’s incredible history of service dates back to 1843!
I enjoyed catching up, touring the station as well as the museum and discussing the need for a new roof. I was glad to help secure funding for the roof replacement project, knowing it will allow the company to remain focused on providing exceptional fire protection and first responder services.
