HARRISBURG – State Sen. Greg Rothman (R-34) and Rep. Torren Ecker (R-193) today announced state funding for a key road project in Shippensburg Borough.
Shippensburg Borough will receive a $500,000 grant for the construction of the Dykeman Road Extension, which will provide improved traffic flow and relieve congestion in downtown Shippensburg. The project will also support economic development in the greater Shippensburg area.
“This project is important to the Shippensburg community and will be key in supporting smart growth. Today’s announcement takes the project one step closer to reality,” Rothman said. “This is exactly the type of project that the state should help to support.”
“This grant will greatly improve transportation and economic development for the entire region,” Ecker said. “I am grateful to be part of the community and to see the good things to come.”
The project was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development, through the Multimodal Transportation Fund. The fund provides grants to support economic development and safe and reliable transportation.
