New Searchable Session Video Library Enhances Transparency

Video from past Senate session days is now available on the General Assembly’s website for the first time ever.  Constituents have been able to watch Senate session via streaming live video and PCN for many years, but building an easy-to-use video library of Senate floor proceedings adds an important level of new transparency.

Session videos are now available back to the first date of the 2025-26 legislative session. Using tools available on the website, users can easily navigate the videos to find items of interest, including debates and votes on specific bills.

The videos can be viewed by visiting the Senate Session page, scrolling down to the calendar of session days and choosing a date.

I’m glad to serve on the Legislative Data Processing Committee, which oversees the Legislative Data Processing Center and is charged with creating and maintaining the General Assembly’s website. Other Senate resources available on the website include live streaming video on session daysmembers of the Senatesession calendarsco-sponsorship memosbill informationroll call votesSenate Journals, which serve as the official record of Senate floor activity; the committee meeting schedule, including links to streaming video; committee votesexecutive nominations and historical biographies.

Members of the public interested in receiving legislative updates can sign up for emails from the free PA Legis Notifications system.  Of course, my office is always happy to provide copies of legislation and status updates upon request; just give us a call or stop in!

Bill to Expand Body Camera Use for Law Enforcement Passes Senate

To boost safety and accountability, the Senate passed legislation to expand the use of body-worn cameras to additional law enforcement personnel. The measure was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Senate Bill 520 authorizes the use of body cameras by special agents with the Office of Attorney General, rangers with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and officers and deputies with the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Fish and Boat Commission.

The bill also modernizes the legal framework for body camera usage to ensure consistency in how footage is recorded and managed, regardless of the department using it.

New Law Protects Users of Virtual Currency

We passed a new law to protect the increasing number of Pennsylvanians using virtual currency, such as Bitcoin.

Act 7 of 2025 requires transmission of virtual currency to be treated similarly to money transmission under state law. As more consumers use virtual currencies, the criminal element has increasingly focused on using this platform to evade prosecution.

Pennsylvania will join 26 other states regulating virtual currency under their money transmitter acts so individuals can engage with virtual currencies at their own discretion with consumer safeguards in place.

Road Improvements Increase Safety and Park Access in North Newton

We were glad to participate in a ribbon cutting this week for the Oakville Connector Project in North Newton Township.  The purpose of the now-completed project was to increase safety and connectivity between the Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail and the Township Park.  In this area, Oakville Road now features a 5-foot shoulder with a rumble strip, edge line, and bicycle signage along the roadway.  Culverts were extended and retaining walls were constructed as well.

I’m pleased to see this project come to fruition.  Congratulations to all involved!

Carlisle Cannons Win National Soccer Title

Congratulations to the Carlisle Cannons on winning the 2025 U.S. Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Florida!  The Carlisle Family YMCA’s Area Youth Soccer program’s U18 girls team became the first national champions from the program and its first National Presidents Cup qualifier since 2014.  We couldn’t be more proud of their teamwork, their accomplishments, and the way they represented our area on the national stage.  Congratulations again to all of the athletes, coaches, and families on this historic win!

Around the District: Our Newest Eagle Scout & Northern Dauphin YMCA

Please join me in congratulating Perry County’s newest Eagle Scout, John Mock of Troop 56!

I was glad to be able to celebrate John’s many achievements with his family, friends, and fellow scouts this week, at his Court of Honor in Marysville.

Thanks to the Northern Dauphin County YMCA for hosting this week’s open house!  The gym, aquatic center, and fitness center were all bustling with activity; area residents of all ages were having fun, making good use of the facility’s spaces, classes, and equipment. It was great to see the Y’s impact in action with Rep. Joe Kerwin, Aidan from Senator Dave McCormick’s office, and the Harrisburg Area YMCA’s leadership team.
